For the first time in a few months, last week it rained. To be more exact, it rained here in Lisbon on Thursday and then it rained at my hometown on Saturday and Sunday. It actually started raining on my hometown exactly after we took these photos. It was actually raining a bit lightely when we took them so I was wise enough to think that a couple of quick photos would have to do. By the way, may I just say how excited I am to finally be able to post some outfit photos again? Way excited, yes.

Pela primeira vez em alguns meses, choveu na semana. Para ser mais precisa, choveu aqui em Lisboa na Quinta-feira e depois choveu na minha terra no Sábado e Domingo. Na verdade começo a chover lá exactamente depois de termos tirado estas fotos. Estava a chover levemente já quando estávamos a tirar fotos por isso tive a feliz ideia de pensar que umas poucas fotos deviam chegar. Já agora, posso apenas dizer o quão entusiasmada estou por poder finalmente publicar fotos de outfits de novo? Demasiado entusiasmada, sim.

And can we talk for a minute about my amazing skirt? I won it on a giveaway from Miss Patina and although I already loved this brand, I am now totally amazed with it. Seriously! The skirt came beautifully packaged and it's just beautiful. Miss Patina is a brand that produces handmade clothing but honestly I can only say these clothes are definitely made by professionals. The skirt is PERFECT! If you want to take a better look at this lace skirt, be sure to check it here - it has a little black waist band that I have hidden under my sweater so you should definitely take a peak at it!

E podemos falar por um minuto da minha saia fantástica? Ganhei-a numa giveaway da Miss Patina e apesar de já gostar desta marca, agora estou totalmente fascinada por ela. A sério! A saia vinha belíssimamente embrulhada e é simplesmente linda. I'm so loving patterns right now. And mixing patterns. More like a clash of patterns, in case you haven't noticed yet. I guess it's just my inner wish for Spring to come speaking loudly. Okay, we didn't exactly have a proper Winter here (and by "proper" I mean we just pretty much skipped Winter apart from a week or two when it was a bit cold) but I'm way ready for Spring. I guess I just don't care. I love sunny, warm days too much. I just feel like dressing colourful clothes right now, full of patterns such as flowers or polka dots... I guess the only thing I'd keep would be scarves. Have you noticed how much I love scarves? I was looking these days at my outfits and I realised I pretty much always have a scarf around...

Gosto tanto de padrões de momento. E de os misturar. Mais numa espécie de choque de padrões, no caso de ainda não terem reparado. Acho que é o meu desejo interior de que a Primavera chegue a falar alto. Okay, não é que tenhamos tido exactamente um Inverno a sério (e por "a sério" refiro-me ao facto de basicamente termos passado o Inverno à frente, exceptuando uma ou outra semana em que esteve um pouco frio) mas estou tão pronta para a Primavera. Penso que simplesmente não me importo. Adoro dias soalheiros e quentes demasiado. Só quero em vestir com cores de momento, cheia de padrões tais como flores e bolinhas... acho ue a única coisa com que ficaria seriam os lenços. Já repararam o quanto eu gosto de lenços? Estava a olhar para os meus outfits nestes dias e apercebi-me que estou basicamente sempre com um lenço por perto...

1. I'm loving this sweater makeover and this lovely tutorial on how to make your own heart sweater. I've been dying to have a sweater with a big heart on it but I still haven't find one that I find to fit me perfectly so I might just do like these ladies and create one of my own. I love inspiring people!

5. It is true I have been loving shoes lately more than anytime before in my entire life but these just stole my heart. I don't know what's about these shoes that just leaves me breathless. Oh, please, come live in my closet!!

É verdade que eu tenho gostado mais de sapatos ultimamente do que em qualquer outra altura em toda a minha vida mas apaixonei-me completamente por estes. Não sei o que há nestes sapatos que simplesmente me deixa sem fôlego. Oh, por favor, venham viver no meu armário!!

Last but not least, today was such a great day! Do you know when sometimes you feel happy for the smallest things? Today I took sometime to take care of myself, to play with my hair and paint my nails. Then I went for a long walk with my mom and a neighbor. It was such a great Sunday, usually my Sundays are so negative because I must study and I always have that nervous feeling that the weekend is about to end and I have a million things to do... today was my last "free Sunday" as I'm getting back to college next week so it was definitely great to have this feeling.

Por fim, hoje foi um óptimo dia! Sabem quando às vezes nos sentimos felizes com coisas pequenas? Hoje tirei algum tempo para cuidar de mim, para brincar com o meu cabelo e pintar unhas. Depois fui dar uma grande caminhada com a minha mãe e uma vizinha. Foi um óptimo Domingo, normalmente os meus Domingos são tão negativos porque tenho que estudar e tenho sempre aquele sentimento de nervos de que o fim-de-semana está a acabar e ainda tenho um milhão de coisas por fazer... hoje foi o meu último "Domingo livre" porque para a semana volto para a faculdade por isso foi fantástico sentir-me assim.

Another thing that just made my day was exchanging messages with a friend and getting great news! We attended the same high school and she moved this last semester to Lisbon and we just met recently... she loves Fashion and photography so I asked if she'd like to join me in taking outfit photos and she was actually excited with the idea!! My sister gets a bit bored with taking me photos and I definitely miss posting my outfits... it actually seems like I'll be able to make this goal come true! I'm so happy for this, I'll actually have someone who will have fun with me, I'm so excited!

Outra coisa que me deixou super feliz foi trocar mensagens com uma amiga e receber outras notícias! Nós frequentámos a mesma secundária e ela mudou-se no último semestre para Lisboa e encontrámo-nos recentemente... ela adora Moda e fotografia por isso perguntei-lhe se se queria juntar a mim em tirar fotos de outfits e ela ficou entusiasmada com a ideia!! A minha irmã fica aborrecida quando me tira fotos e eu tenho saudades de publicar os meus outfits... finalmente parece que vou conseguir cumprir este objectivo! Estou tão feliz por isto, vou ter alguém para se divertir comigo, estou tão entusiasmada!

Lost... now what?

Yesterday I finally finished watching Lost. I've started watching it a long long time ago, rewatched many of the seasons and kept delaying the finale. I just love this show and couldn't stand the idea of finishing it. But yesterday I did. Now I feel... kinda lost. haha

So what's next? I do watch a couple of shows at the time but what do you recommend me to watch? What tv series can actually fullfil the empty space left by Lost?

Ontem acabei finalmente de ver Lost. Comecei a ver há muito muito tempo atrás, revi umas quantas vezes as temporadas e continuei a adiar o final. Adoro esta série e não podia suportar a ideia de acabá-la. Mas ontem fi-lo. Agora sinto-me...meio perdida. haha

The shop owner, Rebecca, writes one of my favourite blogs to read so I always keep myself posted about all new items on her shop. These ear warmers aren't new, I have to admit, but I have been falling in love with these more and more recently. It has been cold in here lately and I'm off every day for big walks so I honestly feel the need to get myself some ear warmers. These are just... perfect. No need to add more words to describe it.

Se seguem o meu blog, já devem ter ouvido falar da fantástica Manzanita de vez em quando. A dona da loja, a Rebecca, escreve um dos meus blogs preferidos por isso estou sempre actualizada no que toca aos novos produtos da loja. I have to confess I literally screamed when I saw this bag!

Let me just tell you a little story so you can understand my reaction... when I was younger, I was a complete bookworm (I'm not so much these days due to lack of time but I still enjoy reading). I was the weird girl that would always be carrying an huge book, reading on every little break I had. One of the things I remember is that I used to run to the school library (I doubt there was any decent book there I haven't read) and one of my favourite topics to read about was the Ancient Egypt. Now I'd read about everything since myths to books about the Gods or the life story of some Pharaoh. I still read some of these books every now and then (like this one) and I watch a lot of documentaries on the topic so I must confess I'm a little neirdy when it comes to everything about Egypt. Me, carrying a bag like this one? Oh my, I'd be the happiest girl in town!

Tenho que confessar que literalmente gritei quando vi esta mala! Deixem-me apenas contar-vos uma pequena história para que percebam a minha reacção... quando era mais nova, era uma autêntica papa-livros (já não sou tanto de momento por falta de tempo mas ainda gosto de ler). Eu era aquela miúda estranha que estava sempre com um livro enorme de baixo do braço, a ler em cada bocadinho livre que tinha. Uma das coisas que me lembro é que eu costumava ir para a biblioteca da escola (duvido que haja um livro decente lá que eu não tenha lido) e um dos meus tópicos preferidos para ler era o Antigo Egipto. Eu lia sobre tudo desde mitos a livros sobre os Deuses ou a história da vida de um qualquer Faraó. Ainda leio alguns desses livros de vez em quando (como este) e vejo muitos documentários sobre o assunto por isso tenho que confessar que sou um bocado obcecada quando toca a tudo o que seja relacionado com o Egipto. Eu, com uma mala como esta? Oh Deus, seria a rapariga mais feliz!

I've heard of Circus Bear Vintage through the shop owner, Kaylah, who is also known as the awesome blogger behind The Dainty Squid. She opened this vintage shop recently and of course I had to take a peak. My heart just started bumping like crazy when I saw this! A giant pencil in which I can put more pencils inside?? You have just awake the pencil geek! I mean, my mind totally shouts «oh my, oh my» everytime I see this. I know probably there ain't a thing related to pencils I just don't love but this is completely awesome. Awesome like, I need it now to put on my desk!

Ouvi falar da Circus Bear Vintage através da dona da loja, a Kaylah, também conhecida por ser a fantástica blogger por trás do The Dainty Squid. Ela abriu esta loja vintage recentemente e é claro que eu tinha que ir espreitar. O meu coração começou literalmente a bater como louco quando vi isto! Um lápis gigante no qual posso pôr mais lápis dentro?? Acabaram de acordar a maluca por lápis! Quer dizer, a minha mente começa logo aos gritinhos quando vejo isto. Sei que provavelmente não há nada relacionado com lápis que eu não adore simplesmente mas isto é fantástico. Fantástico do tipo, preciso disto mesmo para pôr na minha secretária!

I love French movies. Maybe it is my french side showing off but I do. I've started watching a few of these movies a while ago by myself and now I have this little self-promise that I will only watch them with my mom. It became somekind of our own personal hobby (just like watching Lost together!) and for that reason I have a bunch of French movies in line to watch now with her.

Eu adoro filmes franceses. Talvez seja o meu lado francês a sobressair mas adoro. Comecei a ver filmes franceses já há algum tempo sozinha e agora tenho esta pequena auto-promessa de que apenas irei vê-los com a minha mãe. Tornou-se uma espécie do nosso hobby (tal e qual como ver Lost juntas!) e por essa razão tenho uns quantos de filmes franceses em espera para ver com ela.

French movies aren't the type of movies that everyone gets to love but I think sometimes people only need a little push to find out great movies out there so I always feel eager to share them. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not that type of person who will only watch French movies. Actually, most of the movies I watch aren't French, but the rest of the movies I watch are so commercial (I mean, they're everywhere for people to get to know about them) that I just feel like sharing French ones, those hidding somewhere, those that only a few of non-French people know.

Os filmes franceses não são o tipo de filmes de que toda a gente gosta mas por vezes as pessoas só precisam de um pequeno empurrão para encontrar filmes fantásticos por isso estou sempre ansiosa por os partilhar. Não me compreendam mal, não sou o tipo de pessoa que só vê filmes franceses. Na verdade, a maior parte dos filmes que vejo não são franceses mas o resto dos filmes que vejo são tão comerciais (quero dizer, estão em todo o lado para as pessoas os verem) que apenas sinto vontade de partilhar os franceses, escondidos algures, aqueles que apenas algumas pessoas que não são francesas conhecem.

This time I wanna talk about L'Arnacoeur. I've watched this movie over a year ago by myself, then rewatched it with my mom (it was about that time my personal resolution began). Last December it aired here in Portugal and I thought it would be the perfect time to write about it but I was so busy I kept delaying it. Now it's about time to do it!

Desta vez quero falar sobre o L'Arnacoeur. Vi este filme há mais de um ano sozinha, depois voltei a vê-lo com a minha mãe (foi mais ou menos por esta altura que começou a minha resolução pessoal). Em Dezembro este filme estreou em Portugal e o pensei que era a altura perfeita para escrever sobre ele mas estava ocupada e acabei por adiar. Agora é altura de o fazer!

Let me just say if you're looking for a deep French movie that will make you think about your life, you won't find any of it here. I could say this is the typical romance/comedy but I won't. Because if it was just typical I wouldn't rewatch it or talk about it here. It is definitely a fresh movie for you to laugh a bit and that's its purpose. Some may say the movie is just ordinary because of it but I do not agree.

Deixem-me apenas dizer que se estão à procura de um filme francês profundo que vos faça pensar sobre a vida, não vão encontrar nada disso aqui. Poderia dizer que esta é a típica comédia/romance mas não o vou fazer. Porque se fosse típica não o iria ver de novo ou falar dele aqui. É definitivamente um filme fresco para se rirem um pouco e é esse o seu propósito. Alguns poderão dizer que o filme é comum por causa disso mas eu não concordo.

Review: Derwent Sketching pencils

It is no secret I love to draw in back & white. I've started drawing in black&white and 'til today I still can't help but loving it.

Through the years I've tried quite a few sketching pencils but I have to confess I was never very found of them as I do consider them to be just for that purpose: sketching.

However, I recently had the opportunity to try Derwent's Sketching pencils. If you're also an artist, you may feel the same way I do about brands: I rely on those I know that are high quality. I have tried in the last year many products from Derwent so despite my lack of passion for sketching pencils, I've decided to try those.

Não é segredo nenhum que eu adoro desenhar a preto e branco. Comecei por desenhar a preto e branco e ainda hoje adoro fazê-lo.

Ao longo dos anos experimentei uns quantos lápis de esboço mas tenho que confessar que nunca gostei muito deles já que os considero como servindo apenas esse propósito mesmo: esboçar.

Contudo, recentemente tive a oportunidade de experimentar os lápis Sketching da Derwent. Se também são artistas, devem se sentir da mesma forma que eu quanto a marcas: confio naquelas que sei que são de boa qualidade. Experimentei vários produtos da Derwent no último ano por isso, apesar de não ser apaixonada por lápis de esboço, decidi experimentar estes.

I have this blister of 4 pencils (the image is from Derwent's website as I forgot to take a picture to my own package before opening it with excitment!) and it contains a HB, a 2B, a 4B and a 8B water soluble pencil.

I usually think a small pack is enough to try a product or range that is new to me but I have to confess 4 pencils no longer seems that great. I want more. I usually don't express my own opinion this earlier on my reviews but I just had to. So you're already aware this is a positive review. If you still want to know more about these pencils, keep reading.

Eu tenho este conjunto de 4 lápis (a imagem é do site da Derwent porque eu me esqueci de tirar uma foto aos meus antes de os abrir com entusiasmo!) e contem um lápis HB, um 2B, um 4B e um lápis solúvel 8B.

Normalmente penso que um pequeno conjunto é suficiente para testar um produto ou colecção que seja novo para mim mas tenho que confessar que 4 lápis já não me parece tão bem. Quero mais. Normalmente não expresso a minha opinião tão cedo numa review mas tinha que o fazer. Por isso já ficam a saber que esta é uma review positiva. This is exactly what I think that works differently (and in a very positive way) for Derwent's sketching pencils when comparing to other brands. Usually, sketching pencils are only useful for sketching due to the fact they're usually wider than ordinary graphite pencils. Do not misunderstand me, Derwent's are wider too but somehow you can not only pull free strokes out of it but also to draw very precise lines.

É exactamente isto que eu encontro de diferente (de uma forma positiva) nos lápis de esboço da Derwent quando comparando com os de outras marcas. Normalmente, os lápis de esboço só são úteis para esboçar já que são normalmente mais grossos que os lápis de grafite normais. Não me compreendam mal, os da Derwent também são grossos mas de alguma forma não só se consegue fazer traços livres como também desenhar linhas muito precisas.

I've tried these pencils both in a smooth and rough paper and I must confess they work much better in a paper with some texture. What is actually quite funny is that I've tested them in my favourite paper which is somehow smooth and I didn't like the outcome but when I decided to try them on a textured paper I don't use that much, they worked perfectly! It seems I have now a good reason to use that paper again as I'm loving these pencils! I have a bunch of ideas in my mind to use these sketching pencils so you'll definitely see me using these in the future!

Testei estes lápis tanto em papel suave como áspero e tenho que confessar que eles funcionam muito melhor num papel com textura. O que é engraçado é que eu os experimentei no meu papel preferido que é meio suave e não gostei de como ficou mas quando os decidi testar num papel com textura que não uso muito, ficou perfeito! Parece que tenho agora uma boa razão para usar este papel de novo já que fiquei a adorar estes lápis! Tenho umas quantas de ideias na minha mente para usar estes lápis de esboço por isso vão definitivamente ver-me a usar estes no futuro!

Positive aspects:

- work nicely both for free strokes as for precise lines and detailed drawings

- they look fantastic when used in a paper with some texture!

Aspectos positivos:

- funcionam muito bem tanto para traços livres como para linhas precisas e desenhos detalhados

- ficam fantásticos quando usados num papel com alguma textura!

Negative aspects:

- don't work so well in a very smooth paper

Just stopping by to show you a new WIP of my drawing. I've been working pretty slowly these days but hopefully I'll get this going :)

I'm still struggling at the moment to decide whether I should leave the background white, dark or just give it a little grey shading. What do you think?

As I've told you earlier at the beggining of this year, I have made some decisions concerning my art and the path I want to take as an artist.

I've decided to focus more on my personal artwork and on building my own portfolio. As a college student, I do not have as much free time as I'd wish to draw. This being said, I just don't have the time to work on commissions and still create my own designs. So I've decided to relegate commissions to a second plan. So here's what's changing:

Como vos disse no início deste ano, tomei algumas decisões relativamente à minha arte e o caminho que quero seguir enquanto artista.

Decidi focar-me mais no meu trabalho pessoal e em construir o meu próprio portefólio. Enquanto estudante universitária, não tenho tanto tempo quanto gostaria para desenhar. Dito isto, simplesmente não tenho tempo para trabalhar em encomendas e ainda assim criar os meus próprios designs. Por isso decidi relegar as encomendas para um segundo plano. Aqui fica o que muda:

- my commission rates. You may check the update here. As I have said above, I do not have very much free time so my time is even more precious. Plus, I have underrated my work so far and I think I'm done with that by now, I need to give my artwork its right value.

- os meus preços. Podem ver as actualizações aqui. Como disse acima, não tenho muito tempo livre por isso o meu tempo é ainda mais precioso. Além disso, sempre subvalorizei o meu trabalho até agora e não o vou fazer mais, preciso atribuir ao meu trabalho o seu devido valor.

- I will no longer take all commission requests I get. I was starting to get to many requests for the little time I have and it was getting hard to manage everything. I will now only take commissions when I do have the time to work on them and when I think that it's something I want to do. Examples of commissions I'll take include celebrity drawings, good pictures or photos that I believe that challenge my art skills. I want to improve and commissions are good way to develop your skills so if I feel that a particular request interests me, I will definitely do it. I do not only draw people so all kinds of themes may be of my interest.

- Não irei mais aceitar todos os pedidos de encomendas que receber. Estava a receber demasiados pedidos para o pouco tempo que tenho e estava a começar a ser difícil fazer tudo. A partir de agora, só irei aceitar encomendas quando tiver tempo para trabalhar nelas e quando achar que é algo que quero fazer. Exemplos de encomendas que irei aceitar incluem desenhos de celebridades, boas fotos ou fotos que acredito que desafiem as minhas capacidades artísticas. Quero melhorar e as encomendas são uma boa forma de desenvolver capacidades por isso se achar que um determinado pedido me interessa, sem dúvida que o irei aceitar. Não desenho apenas pessoas por isso outros temas poderão ser do meu interesse.

I love dark shades

Today I've started a new drawing.

Don't blame it on me. I was working with colour. Despite the fact everyone seems to actually like my artwork done with coloured pencils, I have to confess I still don't feel that much confident while working at it. It's just... I don't feel like I have the proper technique to draw in colour so I always get a bit frustrated while drawing.

This said, I decided to put the drawing aside for a bit and start working on a new one. In a few hours I've already completed this.

I'm actually testing pencils and paper I've never used before and I have to confess I'm loving both too much. I will definitely write a review once I finish this drawing.

Hoje comecei um novo desenho.

Não me culpem. Estava a trabalhar com cores. Apesar de parecer que toda a gente até gosta do meu trabalho quando uso lápis de cor, tenho que confessar que ainda não me sinto muito confiante quando trabalho com eles. Simplesmente... não sinto que tenha a técnica própria para desenhar a cores por isso acabo por ficar sempre um bocado frustrada quando desenho. Dito isto, decidi colocar o desenho de lado por um bocado e começar um novo. Em algumas horas já consegui fazer isto.

Na verdade estou a testar tanto lápis como papel que nunca usei antes e tenho que confessar que estou a adorar ambos demasiado. Vou definitivamente escrever uma review assim que acabar o desenho.

Now, I know you may not see a lot of improvement but I can tell you I've working hard on it. Just slowly getting there.

I probably won't be drawing today as I'm really feeling ill.

I've been stalking Giant Dwarf for quite some time now. I honestly can't express how much I love those lovely headbeands of theirs but they're just perfect. I think I have quite a few favourite but this is one of those who steal my heart. I just love so much the fact it seems to fit perfectly in every type of hair so graciously.

Tenho andado a perseguir a Giant Dwarf há algum tempo. Honestamente não consigo expressar o quanto adoro as fitas para cabelo que eles têm mas são perfeitas. Acho que tenho umas quantas de favoritas mas esta é uma daquelas pelas quais me apaixonei. Adoro o facto se parecer ficar tão graciosamente bem em qualquer tipo de cabelo.

And here's another shop that I totally love. I mean, if you do love scarves, if you do love beautiful prints and if you do love colours, it's totally you! I had no idea there was such a shop until I stumbled upon this one! Who'd say someone could be this talented? Excuse me while I notice a million times again how pretty these scarves are.

E aqui está outra loja que adoro. Quer dizer, se adoras lenços, se gostas de padrões bonitos e adoras cores, é totalmente para ti! Não fazia ideia que havia loja assim até esbarrar nesta! If you read my blog every now and then, you might just have noticed I am currently obssessed with anything that reminds me of native themes. This necklace is no exception. My head is screaming «how cute is this!» over and over again while my hands try to grab that precious necklace on my screen. Enough said, I'm in love.

Se lêem o meu blog de vez em quando, já devem ter reparado que estou obcecada de momento com qualquer coisa que me lembre de temas nativos. Este colar não é excepção. A minha cabeça grita «quão giro é isto!» uma e outra vez enquanto as minhas mãos tentam agarrar este colar lindíssimo no meu ecrã. Dito isto, estou apaixonada.

Last but not least, I wish we had a proper Winter here. I know if we had it would be driving me crazy and I would repeat a million times how cold it is and how I can't bare cold weather. True story. But, you know, snow one day a year would be okay, right? I mean, just one day. So I could get outside with a pretty hat like this one and take some pictures while throwing snow in the air. But no, no. It's sunny here and not cold enough to make all you North people jealous. So can I just have the hat? Just to make me happy? I swear I won't complain about the lack of snow anymore. Please, just give me the hat and no one gets hurt!

Por fim, gostava que existisse um Inverno a sério aqui. Sei que se tivessemos eu estaria a dar em maluca e a repetir um milhão de vezes que está frio e que não suporto frio. É verdade. Mas, sabem, neve um dia por ano não fazia mal, certo? Quer dizer, só um dia. Para que eu pudesse sair com um gorro lindo como este e tirar fotos enquanto atirava neve para o ar. Mas não, não. Está sol e não está frio o suficiente para fazer inveja a vocês, pessoas do Norte. Por isso, posso só ter o gorro? Apenas para me fazer feliz? Juro que não me vou queixar mais da falta de neve. Por favor, deem-me apenas o gorro e ninguém sai ferido!

Decisions on the tip of a pencil

I'm not sure you can recall but I talked recently about my goals for this year and one of those goals included creating my own personal artwork. Well, this is a thing I've been thinking about last Summer (pretty much because I had a lot of time to think and none to draw) and through these last months I've came to the conclusion of what time of artwork I want to do.

So these days I started a new drawing. And today I'm sharing a WIP (because I've also decided I need to share my artwork on the process even more). I still won't share the reference picture but one of the things I can tell you is that it has nothing to do with this.

One of my decisions was that I wouldn't just "copy" a reference and that I would always add something to it. I think I've gone crazy and just added to much but at least I'm taking this as a challenge to my imagination as I'm drawing a lot from my mind. It feels like I've done a lot so far but I haven't. This bit is such a small part in the whole drawing. I've gone crazy but I'm enjoying. How I missed my pencils!

Não tenho a certeza se se conseguem lembrar mas falei recentemente dos meus objectivos para este ano e um deles incluía criar o meu trabalho pessoal. Bem, isto é algo sobre o qual tenho estado a pensar desde o último Verão (basicamente porque tive muito tempo para pensar e nenhum para desenhar) e ao longo destes meses cheguei à conclusão do tipo de desenhos que quero fazer.

Por isso nestes dias comecei um novo desenho. E hoje partilho um WIP (porque também decidi que tenho que partilhar mais o meu trabalho em processo). Ainda não vou partilhar a foto de referência mas uma das coisas que vos posso dizer é que não tem nada que ver com isto. Uma das minhas decisões foi que não iria mais apenas "copiar" uma referência e que iria sempre adicionar algo à mesma. Acho que fiquei maluca porque adicionei demasiado mas ao menos estou a encarar isto como um desafio à minha imaginação já que estou a desenhar imenso de cabeça. Parece que já fiz muito mas na verdade não. Este bocado é uma pequena parte do desenho. Fiquei maluca mas estou a gostar. Como tinha saudades dos meus lápis!

Pastéis de nata

Everyone who knows a bit of portuguese food could see this coming. I mean, I had to start this series of posts with pastéis de nata. I've always heard foreigners here calling them custard tarts because of the difficulty in pronouncing this lovely sweet name.

Pastéis are one of our most famous things when it comes to food. If you're visiting Portugal, you'll be able to find them pretty much everywhere in the country but if you want the real thing, head up to Lisbon and eat them at the original house, Pastéis de Belém. Believe me, you will not want to leave the place without eating a bunch of them. And bringing a few with you. Because they're really, really tasty. I am Portuguese myself so you'd think I'm just tired of eating these delices but you may just see that I don't resist to eat them every now and them. Because they're just that good.

My pictures might just not convince you to make this recipe but trust at least my words, you won't regret it!

Toda a gente que conhece um bocadinho da comida portuguesa já estava a ver isto a acontecer. Eu tinha que começar esta série de posts com os pastéis de nata. Sempre ouvi os estrangeiros chamar-lhes custard tarts pela dificuldade em pronunciar este nome delicioso.

Os pastéis são uma das nossas coisas mais famosas quando toca a comida. Se visitarem Portugal, poderão encontrá-los um pouco por todo o lado no país mas se quiserem provar os verdadeiros, vão a Lisboa e comam na casa original, os Pastéis de Belém. Acreditem em mim, não vão querer sair de lá sem comer uns poucos. E trazer alguns com vocês. Porque são mesmo, mesmo muito bons. Eu sou Portuguesa por isso talvez pudessem pensar que estou farta de comer estas delícias mas podem ver que eu não resisto a comê-los de vez em quando. Porque são assim tão bons.

As minhas fotos talvez não vos convençam a fazer esta receita mas acreditem pelo menos nas minhas palavras, não se vão arrepender!

You'll need 500g puff pastry. Grease lined-muffins cups with butter. Cut little slices and line the cups with it with the help of your thumbs. Leave it aside.

Mix 2,5dl cream with 4 yolks, 1 tea spoon of flower and 100g sugar. (To add some taste, you may want to dip in the mixture lemon zest and a cinnamon stick which you must take off in the end).

Simmer it until it starts boiling, always mixing. When it gets warm, pour the custard in the lined-muffins cups and take it to the oven, pre-heaten at 200ºC (~390F), for about 15-20 minutes.

Take the tarts off the molds once they're cold and serve it that way or powder some cinnamon and powder sugar.

Vais precisar de 500g de massa folhada. Unta as formas com manteiga. Corta pequenas fatias e forra as formas com a ajuda dos polegares. Deixa de lado.

Mistura 2,5 dl de natas com 4 gemas, 1 colher de chá de farinha e 100g de açúcar. (Para adicionar o gosto, podes querer juntar raspas de limão e um pau de canela, que deves tirar no final).

Leva a lume brando até ferver, sempre mexendo. Assim que estiver morno, deita o creme nas formas e leva ao forno, pré-aquecido a 200ºC, por cerca de 15-20 minutos.

Tira os pastéis das formas assim que estiverem frios e serve-os assim ou polvilha com canela e açúcar em pó.

Wanna know a little secret? I love my country's food! Yes, I do.

I guess that apart one or two things that I'm not really fan of, I'm just crazy about every little thing portuguese gastronomy has to offer.

Querem saber um pequeno segredo? Eu adoro a comida do meu país! Sim, adoro.

Acho que exceptuando uma ou outra coisa de que não sou realmente fã, sou simplesmente doida por tudo o que a gastronomia portuguesa tem a oferecer.

When this year started, I wanted to create a food-resolution.

I'm not exactly the best cook so I wanted to create something that could relate to my blog and that would help me to improve my cooking skills.

At first, one could thing I'd start posting every single dish I'd do but I just didn't want this blog to turn into a food blog. Because it's not. At all. Still, I kept thinking what I could do... what do I have that is different from the rest of the blogs out there? Oh yeah, I'm portuguese! And I have a lot of non-portuguese readers. That said, I thought I could start sharing every now and then the wonders of portuguese food and tell people how to do it. So, if you catch something traditionally portuguese on this blog that looks tasty to you, you'll be able to do it yourself because I'll be sharing recipes in English (oh and just a little tip: if you see a title in Portuguese, it might just be a traditional recipe!). And maybe a little story. Just maybe.

Quando este ano começou, quis criar uma resolução relacionada com comida.

Não sou propriamente a melhor cozinheira por isso queria criar algo que se pudesse relacionar com o blog e que me levasse a melhorar as minhas capacidades culinárias.

Uma pessoa poderia pensar de início que eu iria colocar cada prato que faço mas eu não queria que este blog se tornasse um blog de comida. Porque não é. De todo. Ainda assim, continuei a pensar o que podia fazer... o que tenho de diferente do resto dos blogs por aí? Oh sim, sou portuguesa! E tenho muitos leitores que não são portugueses. Dito isto, pensei em começar a partilhar de vez em quando as maravilhas da cozinha portuguesa e dizer às pessoas como o fazer. Por isso, se encontrarem algo tradicionalmente português neste blog que vos pareça bom, vão poder fazê-lo vocês mesmos porque irei partilhar receitas em Inglês (ah e uma pequena dica: se virem um título em Português, deve ser uma receita tradicional!). E talvez uma pequena história. Só talvez.

It has been so long since the last time I have picked up my pencils that only now that I've finished my semester I've realised I still haven't posted this commission I've done a while ago.

It was my first time drawing a wedding scene, in this case a just married couple. I surely did enjoy it and I think I have to repeat the experience.

Já passou tanto tempo desde a última vez em que peguei nos meus lápis que só agora que acabei o semestre me apercebi que ainda não tinha publicado esta encomenda que já fiz há algum tempo.

Foi a minha primeira vez a desenhar uma cena de um casamento, neste caso um casal de recém-casados. Gostei e acho que tenho que repetir a experiência.

Here it is, the second post out of the «Artists I love» series! I've been planning this interview for a very long time but unfortunately only now I was able to post it... I truly hope you'll enjoy it!

Aqui está, o segundo post na série dos «Artistas que adoro»! Tenho estado a planear esta entrevista há já algum tempo mas infelizmente apenas agora consegui publicá-la... espero verdadeiramente que gostem!

Meet one of the most amazing artists I know, one of those that inspire me a lot when creating my artwork... Zindy Nielsen! If you're into fantasy artwork, you're gonna love her drawings!

Could you describe yourself a little bit so we can know a bit more about you?

Hi, my name is Zindy Stine Desirée Nielsen. I live in beautiful Copenhagen, Denmark. I grew up in a small city in south Denmark, with a population of only 8000. I moved away when I was 18 as I never really felt I belonged there.

When I was little I dreamed of becoming a lawyer so I could help bring justice to the world. However as I grew older I learned that this wasn't for me and that there were much more to it than helping innocent people. I also wanted to become a writer as I would write a lot of articles and short stories when I was little and in school. I never really pictured myself becoming an artist even though it was a part of my life already back then. It's funny how our lives turn out sometimes. Drawing has now been my passion for the past 10 years and I grow to love it more each day.

Olá, o meu nome é Zindy Stine Desirée Nielsen. Vivo na lindíssima Copenhaga, na Dinamarca. Cresci numa pequena cidade no sul da Dinamarca, com uma população de apenas 8000 pessoas. Mudei-me quando fiz 18 anos já que nunca tinha sentido que pertencia ali.

Quando era pequena sonhava em ser advogada para poder ajudar a trazer justiça ao mundo. Contudo à medida que ia crescendo aprendi que isso não era para mim e que havia muito mais nisso que ajudar pessoas inocentes. Também queria tornar-me escritora uma vez que escria muitos artigos e pequenas histórias na escola quando era pequena. Nunca me imaginei como artista ainda que a arte já fosse parte da minha vida na altura. É engraçado como as nossas vidas mudam por vezes. Desenhar tenha sido a minha paixão nos últimos 10 anos e continuo a gostar cada vez mais disso a cada dia.

How long have you been into Art? Do you remind yourself as always being an artist or did you find your talent more recently? When and why did you decide to take art more seriously?

Há quanto tempo gostas de Arte? Lembras-te de sempre ser uma artista ou descobriste o teu talento mais recentemente? Quando e por que decidiste levar a Arte mais a sério?

Art has always been in my life more or less. When I was a little girl I would sit in my room and draw and write all day long. It's always been a way to escape into a world of dreams and imagination. When I was a teen I wouldn't draw as much as I was busy with school and I didn't have a true passion for it yet. When I was about 20 I went through a hard time in my life which led me to start drawing a lot. It was when my passion for drawing started and continued on ever since.

A Arte tem sido sempre mais ou menos parte da minha vida. Quando era pequena sentava-me no meu quarto e desenhava e escrevia todo o dia. Tem sido sempre um escape para um mundo de sonhos e imaginação. Quando era adolescente não desenhava muito já que estava ocupada com a escola e ainda não era a minha verdadeira paixão. Quando tinha mais ou menos 20 anos passei por um mau bocado na minha vida que me levou a desenhar muito. Foi aí que a minha paixão começou e tem continuado desde então.

Looking at your earlier work, one can see you have always been a great artist but you seem to have improved a lot over the years. What do you think that was your biggest accomplishment since you started drawing?

Olhando para os teus trabalhos mais antigos, podemos ver que sempre foste uma grande artista mas pareces ter evoluído imenso ao longo dos anos. O que pensas ter sido a tua maior conquista desde que começaste a desenhar?

I felt I started becoming the artist I wished for when I went from my celebrity drawings back into emotive artwork. I started doing my fantasy motives, especially angels at the time and I felt I started evolving into the artist I am today. I think it's interesting looking back at my very early work and where I am today, as it feels like a long journey. Today I feel I found my path in the sense that I am able to draw what I have strived for a long time: realistic emotive work with a touch of fantasy.

Sinto que comecei a tornar-me a artista que queria quando passei de desenhos de celebridades de volta ao meu trabalho emotivo. Comecei a fazer motivos de fantasia, especialmente anjos na altura e senti que comecei a evoluir para a artista que sou hoje. Acho que é interessante olhar para o meu trabalho mais antigo e onde estou hoje, já que parece uma longa jornada. Hoje sinto que encontrei o meu caminho no sentido em que sou capaz de desenhar aquilo pelo qual lutei por muito tempo: trabalhos emotivos realistas com um toque de fantasia.

You work both in realistic portraits as well as in fantasy artwork. Do you prefer one over the other or do you think they complement themselves?

Trabalhas tanto em retratos realistas como em trabalhos de fantasia. Preferes um ao outro ou achas que ambos se complementam?

My heart belongs to the fantasy work I do, like Lost Dreams, Watching it fly and What's left of me. Those are pieces of me and it's what I truly feel for creating. I do love creating emotive portraits as well but if I had to choose one over the other it would be my fantasy work.

O meu coração pertence ao trabalho de fantasia que faço, como o Lost Dreams, o Watching it fly e o What's left of me. São parte de mim e é o que verdadeiramente sinto por criar. Adoro criar retratos emotivos e criativos também mas se tivesse que escolher um ao outro seria o meu trabalho de fantasia.

In the past you have created many drawings of celebrities although you seem to not do it so often anymore. Is it because you don’t enjoy it so much now or did you just feel you had to create something more on your own?

No passado criaste muitos desenhos de celebridades apesar de parecer que não o fazes tanto agora. É porque já não tiras tanto prazer disso agora ou simplesmente sentiste que devias criar algo mais teu?

As much as I enjoyed creating celebrity drawings years back it wasn't where my passion truly was. It was an amazing experience and I believe it helped me become better at understanding expressions, shading and achieve the likeness of a person.
In the past I worked for a company creating backgrounds for the early colour display phones, a lot of the drawings I did of celebrities back then were commissions for them.
Today when I draw a celebrity it's usually because I respect the work they do or have something special about them.

I guess you can say I lost interest in drawing portraits in general back then and needed to branch out into something new and more personal.

Ainda que gostasse há uns anos atrás de desenhar celebridades não era onde a minha verdadeira paixão estava. Foi uma experiência incrível e acredito que me ajudou a ficar melhor a perceber expressões, sombreamento e a alcançar as feições de uma pessoa.

No passado trabalhei para uma empresa que criava fundos para os telemóveis a cores iniciais, muitos dos desenhos que fiz de celebridades na altura foram encomendas para eles.

Hoje quando desenho uma celebridade é geralmente porque respeito o trabalho que eles fazem ou porque há algo de especial neles.

Acho que se pode dizer que perdi o interesse em desenhar retratos em geral na altura e precisava de mudar para algo novo e mais pessoal.

What are your favourite themes to draw?

Quais são os teus motivos favoritos para desenhar?

I love drawing both light innocent and dark Gothic motives. I've always had a thing for "the good vs the bad" and find it interesting to portray.

If I had to choose only one motive it would be the "broken" theme, I love portraying sad crying people whether it be portraits or fantasy related drawings. It's the theme that has general been in my work from the very beginning. There's just something about this particular emotion that inspires me a lot.

Adoro desenhar tanto motivos leves e inocentes como góticos e pesados. Sempre gostei do "bom contra o mau" e acho-o algo interessante de retratar.

Se tivesse de escolher apenas um motivo seria o tema "quebrado", adoro retratar pessoas tristes a chorar seja tanto em retratos ou em desenhos de fantasia. É o tema que tem estado no meu trabalho em geral desde o início. Há algo nesta emoção em especial que me inspira muito.

How long does it take you in average to finish one single piece?

Quanto tempo te demora a acabar um só desenho?

It's hard to put a number on how long it takes me because it's very different depending on motive. One piece can take 5 hours where as others can take 50 hours. I think generally my black and white drawings is about 8-10 hours where as my colour work is 20 hours in average. If I work on larger paper (bigger than 12"x16"/30x40cm), it takes me much longer though.

É difícil colocar um número em quanto tempo demoro porque é diferente dependendo do motivo. Um desenho pode demorar 5 horas e outros podem demorar 50. Acho que geralmente os meus desenhos a preto e branco demoram 8-10 horas enquanto que o meu trabalho a cores demora em média 20 horas. Se trabalho num tamanho maior de papel, (maior que 12"x16"/30x40cm), demora muito mais.

Which are your most favourite pieces from your gallery? Any special reason?

Quais as tuas obras preferidas da tua galeria? Alguma razão em especial?

My favourite drawing I've ever done is Please my wings, take me away. I did it at a time of my life where everything changed for me. Sometimes when you take a chance it turns your world upside down and leave you in a very fragile stage. The drawing will always remind me of a time where I needed to change my life for the better and leave the old one behind.

O meu desenho preferido de todos os que fiz é o Please my wings, take me away. Fi-lo numa altura da minha vida em que tudo mudou para mim. Às vezes quando aceitas uma oportunidade, isso vira o teu mundo de pernas para o ar e deixa-te num estado muito frágil. Este desenho lembrar-me-á sempre de uma altura em que eu precisei de mudar a minah vida para melhor e deixar o passado para trás.

As artists, we always struggle to get better and improve more and more but we always have strong and weak spots. What do you find the easiest and the hardest to draw?

Enquanto artistas, lutamos sempre para nos tornar-mos melhores e melhorar-mos mais e mais mas tempos sempre pontos fortes e fracos. O que achas mais fácil e mais díficil de desenhar?

The hardest part for me is shoulders and the collarbone area, I don't know why that is but I find they easily get to look too masculine. As for the easiest to draw I am not sure, maybe skies? I've created incredible many skies through time and I feel comfortable drawing them from memory by now. Especially dark rainy clouds, I really love drawing those.
I love rain, especially spring rain, it might have to do with my passion for drawing them.

A parte mais difícil para mim são os ombros e a área do pescoço, não sei porquê mas acho que facilmente poder parecer demasiado masculino. Já a parte mais fácil, não sei, talvez céus? Criei muitos céus incríveis ao longo dos anos e sinto-me confortável em desenhá-los de cabeça agora. Especialmente nuvens escuras da chuva, adoro desenhá-las.

Where do you get your inspiration from? When feeling uninspired, what tricks do you use to get back to work? Which artists influence you the most?

Onde vais buscar inspiração? Quando não te sentes inspirada, que truques usas para voltar ao trabalho? Que artistas mais te influenciam?

I am not inspired by one artist in particular. I have deep respect for Alphonse Mucha, I love his simplicity yet incredible detail in his beautiful paintings.

My main inspiration has always been my feelings, things I have gone through in life. A lot of my works are pieces from my life, though not all.

I very rarely get uninspired in facts it's always been the other way around. I sometimes have so many ideas and things I want to do I never get the time to do them all and unfortunately many of the ideas slips in time. I've had an idea book which is completely full by now. I hope I will get through them all before I leave this world.

If I ever feel stuck of uninspired a go for a walk or listen to music, both make me dream away and feel relaxed and then the inspiration comes back right away.

Não me inspiro em nenhum artista em particular. Sempre tive um imenso respeito pelo Alphonse Mucha, adoro a simplicidade e ainda assim incrível detalhe nos seus lindíssimos quadros.

A minha maior inspiração sempre foram os meus sentimentos, coisas por que passei na vida. Muitos dos meus trabalhos são parte da minha vida, ainda que não todos.

Muito raramente tenho falta de inspiração, sempre foi o contrário. Às vezes tenho tantas ideias e coisas que quero fazer que nunca tenho tempo para as fazer todas e infelizmente muitas ideias acabam esquecidas no tempo. Tenho um livro de ideias que está completamente cheio neste momento. Espero vir a concretizar todas as ideias antes de deixar este mundo.

Se alguma vez me sentir sem inspiração vou passear ou ouço música, ambos me fazem sonhar e sentir relaxada e depois a inspiração volta logo.

What is your favourite medium? What supplies do you recommend to other artists?

Qual é o teu material preferido? Que materiais recomendas a outros artistas?

My favourite medium is without a doubt charcoal. Since I tried it for the first time about 10 years ago I have loved it. It's a difficult and challenging medium but at the same time you are able to achieve such darkness and depth with it.

O meu material preferido é sem dúvida o carvão. Desde que o usei pela primeira vez há cerca de dez anos que o adorei. É um material difícil e desafiante mas ao mesmo tempo consegues alcançar profundidade e um tom escuro com ele.

What is the advice you would give to an aspiring artist?

Que conselho darias a alguém que aspira ser um artista?

If you really love art keep at it and do it as much as time allows you. Find out where your true passion is and what medium works the best for you. You can get far by practising a lot and loving what you do.

Se gostas mesmo de Art continua e fá-la tanto quanto o tempo te permita. Descobre onde a tua verdadeira paixão está e que material funciona melhor para ti. Podes ir longe ao praticar muito e gostar do que fazes.

What would you like to accomplish in the future as an artist?

O que gostarias de alcançar no futuro enquanto artista?
My wish for many years have been to become better at colouring. To be able to portray different light types in the drawings, such as bright and sunny and dark and gloomy. I find it a challenge where as it's easier to show weather in black and white.

My goal at the moment is to complete my personal art book as well as my tutorial book which have been in the making for a very long time now.
I'd also like to exhibit my work at some point.
Generally I'd like to keep growing as an artist and keep loving what I do.

O meu desejo por muitos anos foi sempre ser melhor com cores. Poder retratar diferentes tipos de luz nos desenhos, tais como clara, solarenta, escura e brilhante. Considero-o um desafio uma vez que é mais fácil mostrar o tipo de tempo a preto e branco.

O meu objectivo neste momento é completar o meu livro de arte pessoal e o meu livro de tutoriais, os quais têm estado a ser feitos já há algum tempo.

Também gostava de expor o meu trabalho a um dado momento.

Na generalidade gostava de continuar a crescer como artista e continuar a gostar do que faço.

New year's goals

2012 is here! Is quite hard to realise 2011 is gone by and a new year is ahead us. Plenty of plans to do, risks to take and dreams to make come true.

2011 was a great year and I can only hope this year will be as good or better. This said, it's time to take a step forward and decide on what I want to accomplish this year...

2012 está aqui! É difícil aperceber-me que 2011 já se foi e que tenho um ano pela frente. Imensos planos para fazer, riscos a tomar e sonhos para tornar realidade.

2011 foi um ano fantástico e apenas posso esperar que este ano seja tão bom ou melhor. Dito isto, está na altura de dar um passo em frente e decidir o que quero alcançar este ano...

1. Complete one drawing a month. Fazer um desenho por mês.

I think I was going to write 'draw more' or 'draw a lot' as a goal but I've realised I need to push myself forward and write down concrete goals. So, yes, make a drawing a month. This will be really hard to accomplish as I hardly have free time to draw these days but I think it's worth at least trying!

Eu ia escrever 'desenhar mais' ou 'desenhar muito' como objectivo mas apercebi-me que tenho que me esforçar mais e escrever objectivos concretos. Por isso, sim, fazer um desenho por mês. Isto vai ser muito difícil de concretizar já que tenho muito pouco tempo livre de momento mas acho que vale a pena pelo menos tentar!

2. Create more speed drawing videos. Fazer mais vídeos a desenhar.

A few months ago I have done two speed drawing videos and since then I haven't recorded myself drawing anymore. Still I can say I had so much fun when I did it (and so much feedback!) that I'm eager to repeat the experience. Hopefully this year I'll be filling my YouTube account with a few more videos!

Há uns meses atrás fiz dois vídeos de mim a desenhar e desde então não me filmei mais a desenhar. Ainda assim, posso dizer que me diverti tanto quando o fiz (e recebi tanto feedback!) que estou entusiasmada por repetir a experiência. Com sorte este ano irei encher a minha conta no YouTube com mais alguns vídeos!

3. Stop proscrastinating and get organized! Parar com a preguiça e organizar-me!

As I said, I don't have very much free time at the moment due to college but one of the problems I face when I have free time is proscrastinating. I don't do it very often but I have to confess I could get more organized to make use of every single minute I have (okay, I am getting a bit obssessed, I know!). I just bought an agenda and hopefully I'll be scheduling my whole day everyday so I can work a little bit harder!

Como já disse, não tenho muito tempo livre de momento por causa da universidade mas um dos problemas que tenho quando arranjo tempo livre é a preguiça. Não é hábito meu mas tenho que confessar que posso ser mais organizada para usar todos os minutos que tenho (okay, estou a ficar um pouco obcecada, eu sei!). Acabei de comprar uma agenda por isso com sorte vou organizar o meu dia completo todos os dias para trabalhar um pouco mais!

4. Open my shop online. Abrir a minha loja online.

My biggest goal for this year. My big dream since I've started drawing. I'm so excited for this, I'm actually putting up a few goals related to thing one (draw more, stop proscrastinanting... get it?). I need to start building my own portfolio, my personal artwork. I have been thinking seriously about this through this last year (specially since Summer) and I've took a few decisions concerning this matter. One of those decisions will be doing less commissions (I will talk about this soon in a separate post).

I'm quite sure this goal will be the hardest to achieve. I need to draw a lot, to create a bunch of different designs, I will need quite some money to start my shop... but hopefully everything will get done and I will make this dream come true!

O meu maior objectivo para este ano. O meu sonho desde que comecei a desenhar. Estou tão entusiasmada com isto, estabeleci até alguns objectivos relacionados com este (desenhar mais, parar com a preguiça... estão a ver?. Preciso começar a construir o meu portefólio, o meu trabalho pessoal. Tenho pensado nisto seriamente ao longo deste último ano (especialmente desde o Verão) e tomei algumas decisões relacionadas com este assunto. Uma dessas decisões é fazer menos encomendas (irei falar sobre isto num post em semparado brevemente).

Tenho a certeza que este objectivo será difícil de concretizar. Terei que desenhar muito, que criar uns quantos de designs diferentes, irei precisar de algum dinheiro para começar a loja... mas com sorte tudo ficará feito e irei concretizar este sonho!

5. More outfit posts. Mais posts de outfits.
I actually have a list of ideas for the blog but I thought this one had to be a separate goal. It's true I have only posted a few outfits so far but this is something I really want to do more. I love Fashion and I feel that posting my outfits not only forces me to make a bigger effort to dress up but it also helps me to have a better idea of myself. I have only faced self-esteem issues but I feel this is a great way to improve on this area.
Na verdade tenho uma lista só de ideias para o blog mas achei que este tinha de ser um objectivo separado. É verdade que ainda só publiquei uns poucos outfits mas isto é algo que quero fazer mais. Adoro Moda e sinto que ao publicar os meus outfits não só me estarei a esforçar mais como também me irá ajudar a ter uma melhor ideia de mim mesma. Sempre tive problemas de auto-estima e acho que esta é uma óptima forma de melhorar neste ponto.

These are my main goals I want to share with you... I have a few more goals but some are personal (so I don't think it's worth posting here) and others are blog-related ideas. I can only say I'm super excited for this new year! I am focusing on opening my shop, I hope you'll be following the process along the way with me!

2011 - goals & good things

Last year (more precisely on December, one year ago) I decided to start a blog, this blog.

One of the things I did back then for the first was to settle goals. Through the years I have always thought of accomplishing this or that goal but I have never truly written them down and I finally went through with it!

You can find my goals for 2011 here. But, have I accomplished those goals?

No ano passado (mais precisamente em Dezembro, há um ano atrás) decidi começar um blog, este blog.

Uma das coisas que fiz pela primeira vez foi definir objectivos. Ao longo dos ano sempre pensei em alcançar este ou aquele objectivo mas nunca os escrevi num papel verdadeiramente e finalmente decidi fazê-lo!

Podem encontrar os meus objectivos de 2011 aqui. Mas, será que alcancei esses objectivos?

1. Draw more. Desenhar mais.

I decided to count how many drawings I have completed in 2010 and in 2011 (I'm not counting sketches or illustrations) to see whether I have completed or not this goal.

Decidi contar quantos desenhos completei em 2010 e em 2011 (sem contar com esboços e ilustrações) para ver se completei ou não este objectivo.

Not to mention this year I have started drawing little illustrations for headers. You may check them all here!

Já para não mencionar que este ano comecei a fazer pequenas ilustrações para headers. Podem vê-las a todas aqui!

So, I have indeed drawn more this year. I am also proud to say some of my personal favourites from my own portfolio were created this year!

De facto desenhei mais este ano. Tenho ainda orgulho em dizer alguns dos meus desenhos preferidos foram criados este ano!

2. Start using my artwork for commercial purposes. Começar a usar o meu trabalho para fins comerciais

I have indeed started selling my artwork as tubes at Dreamscape Imaging. Head over there to buy some of them to use on your digital art!

3. Create somekind of my own merchandise. Criar uma espécie do meu próprio merchandise.

I think this was the only goal I haven't still accomplished. I'm moving it to my new year's goals as it is something I really want to do. Since I've started drawing, I have been dreaming of starting my own shop with my artwork and selling prints, bookmarks, badges,... you name it! Hopefully one day I'll see this coming true!

Penso que este foi o único objectivo que não alcancei. Vou transferi-lo para os meus objectivos do novo ano já que é algo que eu quero muito fazer. Desde que comecei a desenhar que sonho em começar a minha própria loja com os meus trabalhos e vender prints, marcadores de livros, pins,... o que puderem imaginar! Espero um dia ver isto a tornar-se realidade!

4. Do more comissions. Fazer mais encomendas.

This year I have done indeed more commissions than last one (still I must improve this goal next year!). I wish I could show them all but by now I have to keep some for myself as I didn't get allowed to share them or as they were gifts and weren't still given away.

Este ano fiz mais encomendas do que no ano passado (ainda que eu tenha que melhorar este objectivo no próximo ano!). Gostava de as poder mostrar todas mas tenho que guardar algumas para mim por não ter sido autorizada a mostrá-las ou por serem prendas que ainda não foram dadas.

5. Do my first exhibition. Fazer a minha primeira exposição.

Hmm... kinda accomplished? Not sure it toally counts but my works were exhibited at Fnac in Santa Catarina, Oporto in August this year.

Hmm... meio alcançado? Não sei se conta mas os meus trabalhos foram exibidos na Fnac de Santa Catarina no Porto em Agosto deste ano.

6. Keep writing on my blog. Continuar a escrever no meu blog.

Definitely accomplished!! When I wrote this goals I had just started my blog (oh and happy one year anniversary to my blog!). I kept thinking I would abandon it after one month or two but here I am, still blogging! Surely I have some up and downs as I don't always have the time to blog or create something new but I am so proud I could go through with this!

Definitivamente alcançado!! Quando escrevi estes objectivos tinha acabado de começar o meu blog (ah e feliz primeira aniversário ao meu blog!). Eu estava sempre a pensar que o iria abandonar após um mês ou dois mas aqui estou eu, ainda a publicar! É certo que há altos e baixos já que nem sempre tenho tenho para escrever no blog ou criar algo novo mas estou tão orgulhosa de ter continuado com isto!

Good things that happened this year: Coisas boas que aconteceram este ano:

One of the most amazing pencil companies I know decided to sponsor me! I will never be able to express how happy I was when I got these gifts on the mail (and the joy I feel everytime I get something new to try out from these guys!). When I started drawing, I would never ever think one big company would be interested in sending me free art supplies to know what I think of them! I have been truly blessed when it comes to this... my family has never been wealthy and as a college student I'm can't afford to buy art supplies as much as I wish I would. I still remember writting here I wouldn't draw for a while because I didn't have money to buy a new set of coloured pencils... this year I got free art supplies from Derwent, Koh-i-noor and Bee Paper. Couldn't ask for more. Thank you so much!

Uma das mais fantásticas empresas de lápis que conheço decidiu patrocinar-me! Nunca poderei expressar o quão feliz fiquei quando recebi estes presentes no correio (e a felicidade que sinto cada vez que eles me enviam algo novo para experimentar!). Quando comecei a desenhar, nunca sequer pensei que uma grande empresa estaria interessada em me enviar materiais de desenho grátis para saber o que penso deles! Tenho sido extremamente abençoada no que toca a este aspecto... a minha família nunca foi rica e enquanto estudante universitária não tenho possibilidades para comprar materiais tanto quanto gostaria. Ainda me lembro de escrever aqui que não iria desenhar por um bocado porque não tinha dinheiro para comprar um novo conjunto de lápis de cor... este ano recebi materiais grátis da Derwent, Koh-i-noor e Bee Paper. Não podia pedir mais. Muito obrigada!

My work was featured on a book! Can you believe it? My artwork on Amazing Pencil Portraits 3 among top artists I truly admire! Here's another thing I would never believe that would happen to me but it did!

I was also featured on The Horror Zine. Little secret... this feature will be soon developed into something bigger! I can't tell yet but in a few months you'll be hearing more about this!

O meu trabalho apereceu num livro! Conseguem acreditar? O meu trabalho no Amazing Pencil Portraits 3 entre artistas fantásticos que eu verdadeiramente admiro! Aqui está outra coisa que eu nunca acreditaria que me ia acontecer!

Também apareci na The Horror Zine. Um pequeno segredo... isto vai ser desenvolvido em algum maior! Não posso dizer já mas dentro de alguns meses vão ouvir falar mais sobre isto!

I've celebrated 3 years of drawing! I started drawing for fun and I later realised I quite had a gift in hands (literaly, on my hands!). I still take pleasure and have fun in drawing but I do look at it now from a different perspective... I would never imagine back then so many people would be looking at my artwork and supporting me... Thank you!

Celebrei 3 anos de desenhar! Comecei a desenhar por diversão e mais tarde apercebi-me que tinha um dom em mãos (literalmente, nas mãos!). Ainda tiro prazer e divirto-me a desenhar mas agora olho para o desenho de uma perspectiva diferente... nunca iria imaginar na altura que tantas pessoas iriam ver o meu trabalho e apoiar-me... Love me some inspiration

It has been quite some time since the last time I got some free time to share all those magical things out there that have been inspired me. It feels great to sit down on the computer and finally put together all the inspirational thing I've been grabbing lately!

Já lá vai algum tempo desde a última vez em que eu tive algum tempo livre para partilhar todas as coisas mágicas que andam por aí e que me inspiram. É um óptimo sentimento poder sentar-me ao computador e finalmente juntar todas as coisas inspiradores que tenho coleccionado ultimamente!

I swear I was about to faint when I found out The Teapottery, Home of the Eccentric Teapot (well said words in my opinion!).

There's pretty much a teapot for everyone's taste out there from cakes to complete breakfasts, from dinners to caravans, from hedgehogs to rabbits coming out of a hat. But I guess I could take them all for myself. I couldn't pick just one and I'm pretty sure whenever I get my own place I'll need one of these in my kitchen.

Juro que estive quase a desmaiar quando descobri a The Teapottery, a casa dos bules excêntricos (palavras bem ditas, na minha opinião!).

Há basicamente um bule para o gosto de cada um desde bolos a pequenos-almoços completos, de restaurantes a caravanas, de porcos-espinho a colehos a sair de uma cartola. Mas acho que eu ficava com todos para mim. Não consigo escolher apenas um e tenho a certeza de que quanto tiver o meu próprio espaço vou precisar de um destes na minha cozinha.

I'm so loving Dahlia Fashion's dresses. They might be simple comparing to other brands' but they have little details that make them delightful to style. I can perfectly picture how I'd wear this or that dress. And it sounds great just to even imagine it.

Adoro os vestidos da Dahlia Fashion. Podem até ser simples comparando-os com os de outras marcas mas têm pequenos detalhes que os fazem adoráveis de usar. Posso perfeitamente imaginar como iria vestir este ou aquele vestido. E soa muito bem só de o imaginar.

Amanda Wachob's tattoos are some of the prettiest I've ever seen. As the artist herself says «many of these tattoos began as paintings». They personally remind me a lot of watercolour paintings and I think there's something unique on that fact.

These two beautiful capes from Rising Taste. I've been wishing for a cape with a native print for quite some time now and these two are definitely on the top best I've seen for sale so far. I can hardly pick a model despite the fact they're a look-a-like. Which one is your favourite?
