O dia em que testei a Boutique-Spa da Caudalie em Paris

Estamos em meados de Agosto e, em pleno coração do Marais em Paris, o céu está cinzento e cai uma chuva miudinha. O tempo que se arrasta assim há semanas é capaz de deprimir qualquer pessoa, mas Paris tem sempre os seus encantos escondidos e sabe exactamente como nos surpreender!

Depois de ter estado sentada na Place des Vosges - com algum frio, confesso - dirijo-me para o número 8 da rue de Francs-Bourgeois, logo ali ao lado. Na rua espalha-se um cheiro divino e ao passar a porta sinto logo aquela atmosfera acolhedora de que tanto preciso em dias como este.

We are in the middle of August and, at the heart of the Marais in Paris, the sky is grey and rain falls. The weather has been dragging on for weeks like this in a way that may depress anyone, but Paris always has its hidden charms and knows exactly how to surprise us! 

After being seated in the Place des Vosges - with some cold, I must confess - I turn to the number 8, rue de Francs-Bourgeois, right next door. On the street there is a divine scent and passing the door I soon feel that that much needed warm atmosphere on days like this.

Falo-vos nada mais nada menos que da boutique da Caudalie em Paris e o aroma que me recebe acolhedoramente é nada mais nada menos que o seu icónico Parfum Divin. Vim para fazer um tratamento e sei que cheguei antes da hora, mas desde logo sou recebida com um sorriso e enquanto espero oferecem-me uma bebida (de uva, que tão bem vai com a imagem da marca) e dizem-me para estar à vontade...

I talk about nothing less than the Caudalie boutique in Paris and the aroma that greets me warmly is nothing less than their iconic Parfum Divin. I came to get a treatment and I know that I arrived early, but I am immediately greeted with a smile and while I wait I am offered a drink (grape one, which goes so well with the brand image), as I am told to make myself comfortable...

Aproveito para ver as estantes repletas de produtos e testar um ou outro que me vai despertando mais a curiosidade. Para quem nunca teve a oportunidade de visitar uma boutique da marca, convém dizer que a experiência é completamente diferente daquela a que estamos habituados quando vamos comprar um produto da Caudalie a uma farmácia. Aqui, têm todos os produtos da marca expostos, sendo possível testá-los e ainda receber conselhos e dicas dos funcionários que tão prontamente nos auxiliam.

I take the opportunity to see the shelves full of products and test one or two that make me more curious. For those who never had the opportunity to visit a boutique from the brand, it must be said that the experience is completely different from the one we are used to when we buy a product from Caudalie to a pharmacy. Here you have all their products exposed, and you can test them and still get advice and tips from employees who readily assist us.

De facto, o tratamento estava um pouco atrasado em relação a hora marcada, mas confesso que nem dei pelo tempo passar dada a simpatia da funcionária que me atendeu na loja! Sendo um dia de semana, tinha a boutique quase só para mim e, como tal, foi um enorme prazer falar dos produtos da marca com alguém que tão bem os conhece. Discutimos aqueles que fui testando ao longo dos anos (ou não fosse eu uma enorme fã da marca!) e aqueles que ainda não tinha tido a oportunidade de experimentar. Desde logo decidi trazer alguns produtos comigo no fim do tratamento (e ainda ficaram uns quantos na minha lista para uma próxima vez!).

In fact, the treatment was a little late, but I confess that I didn't even notice the time pass due to the friendly staff who welcomed me in the store! Being a weekday, I had the boutique almost for myself and, as such, it was a huge pleasure to speak of the brand products with someone who knows them so well. I discussed those which I tested over the years (I mean, I'm a huge fan of the brand!) and those which I hadn't yet had the opportunity to try. I immediately decided to bring some products with me at the end of treatment (and even got a few more on my list for next time!).

Finalmente, acabei por ser recebida pela funcionária que iria fazer o tratamento e que me indicou a cabine onde iria ser feito o mesmo, no primeiro andar da boutique. Lembram-se que vos descrevi que chovia lá fora? Aqui em cima, com as cortinas fechadas, um aroma maravilhoso a Fleur de Vigne e música de piano como um extra relaxante, acaba por se esquecer tudo isso!

Finally, I ended up being received by the employee who would do the treatment as she showed me the cabin where it would be done, on the first floor of the boutique. Remember I described that it was raining outside? Up here, with the curtains closed, a wonderful aroma of Fleur de Vigne and piano music as a relaxing extra, you eventually forget it all!

Preparei-me assim para o tratamento que havia escolhido, o soin visage anti-oxydant, o qual tem por base a gama Polyphenol C15 (da qual já vos falei no blog e que adoro) e que tem por objectivo proteger e cuidar da pele desidratada, cansada e fatigada. Confesso que depois de ter trabalhado seis dias (e de o ter feito pela quarta semana consecutiva), estava mesmo a precisar de algo assim!

I prepared myself for the treatment I had chosen, the soin visage anti-oxydant, which is based on the Polyphenol C15 range (of which I have spoken on the blog and love) that aims to protect and care for dehydrated, tired and fatigued skin. I confess that after working six days (and doing that for the fourth week in a row), I really needed something like this!

O tratamento começa por uma limpeza da pele em profundidade (o que inclui a utilização de uma escova Clarisonic), preparando assim a pele para receber o tratamento. Depois, uma massagem com uvas frescas e óleos essenciais (a qual dá uma sensação de frescura e relaxamento), regenerando assim a epiderme em profundidade. Por fim, uma máscara anti-oxidante concentrada em ácido hialurónico que deixa a pele bem hidratada! Como se isto não fosse suficiente, ainda vos perguntam se querem uma massagem de mãos ou pés (eu escolhi mãos). Basicamente, o tratamento acaba por não só se concentrar na vossa cara como também no pescoço, decote, braços e mãos.

The treatment starts with a deep skin cleansing (which includes the use of a Clarisonic brush), preparing the skin for the treatment. Then a massage with fresh grapes and essential oils (which gives a feeling of freshness and relaxation), thus regenerating the epidermis in depth. Finally, an anti-oxidant mask concentrated in hyaluronic acid that leaves the skin moisturized! As if this was not enough, you're still asked whether you want a hands or feet massage (I chose hands). Basically, the treatment turns out to not only focus on your face as well as neckline, arms and hands.

Quando o tratamento acabou, confesso que estava tão relaxada e despreocupada que nem dei por isso! Confesso que descontraí tanto durante o tratamento que dei por mim a pensar se este tinha realmente durado os anunciados 50 minutos (na realidade, verifiquei depois no meu relógio e durou até um pouco mais, suponho que a noção de tempo muda quando estão a cuidar tão bem de nós!). 

Quando me levantei e me preparei para sair, tinha mesmo aquela sensação de estar como nova! Se pensava naquele momento que o tratamento tinha valido a pena, dei por mim ainda mais contente quando, ao longo dos dias que se seguiram, notei que a minha pele estava muito mais lisa e suave ao toque, além de ter uma luminosidade natural muito bonita!

When the treatment ended, I confess I was so relaxed and carefree that I didn't realise it had come to an end! I was so relaxed during the treatment that I found myself wondering if it had actually lasted the advertised 50 minutes (actually, then I checked my watch and it lasted even a little more, I suppose the notion of time changes when someone is taking care of you!).

When I got up and got ready to leave, I felt as good as new! If at the time I thought the treatment was worth it, I found myself even more pleased when, over the days that followed, I noticed that my skin was much smoother and softer to touch and had a very beautiful natural light!

À saída, fui mais uma vez acompanhada pela simpatia das duas funcionárias que me receberam e que me desejaram um "à bientôt" e não pude deixar de pensar o quão felizarda sou por ter tido a oportunidade de experimentar uma sensação assim! Confesso que tenho pena que não exista uma boutique da Caudalie em Portugal (quem sabe se no futuro?), mas, se alguma vez tiverem a oportunidade de passar por uma das várias cidades em que as boutiques estão localizadas, não percam a oportunidade de passar a soleira da porta e de serem maravilhadas com este mundo único da Caudalie. Não dá para descrever a sensação, mas juro que vos faz esquecer até mesmo a chuva.

When leaving, I was once again accompanied by the friendliness of the two employees who received me and wished me a "à bientôt" and could not help thinking how lucky I am to have had the opportunity to experience a feeling like that! If you ever have the opportunity to go through one of several cities where the boutiques are located, do not miss the opportunity to walk past the door and be amazed by this unique world of Caudalie. I can not describe the feeling, but I swear it even makes you forget the rain.

Magic Everywhere

Here is the so long waited post and for which so many of you asked: the one in which I speak about moving to France and working at Disneyland Paris!

Aqui está o post tão aguardado e pelo qual tantas pessoas me perguntaram: aquele em que falo da minha mudança para França e de trabalhar na Disneyland Paris!

 

Far away from wishing to write something exhaustive, I rather speak about something that so many of you are curious about: the recruitment process. I can only speak of my personal experience, which is not a reference but rather an example so you can have an idea of how I got here.

In October or November 2013, when I was answering several job offers, my mom called me saying she saw in the newspaper that Disney Cruise Line was recruiting. I decided to search more about it and found out I might not be the right person for it (as I don't have any experience in catering/hotel business), but this news brought me the idea of trying other branches of the Disney universe and I ended up at the Disneyland Paris recruitment website. At the time I decided to send my CV as I did for other companies and didn't think about it again until I got an e-mail in January saying I was selected for an interview in Lisbon. I remember tellin my family about it and saying that I was going to the interview but had no hope of being selected (especially because the interview was in French and I hadn't practised the language for a long time!).

Longe de querer escrever algo exaustivo, vou antes de mais falar sobre algo que desperta tanta curiosidade: o processo de recrutamento. Apenas posso falar da minha experiência, a qual, longe de ser uma referência, serve apenas como exemplo para terem ideia de como cheguei aqui. 

Mais ou menos em Outubro/Novembro de 2013, andava eu a responder a várias ofertas de emprego, a minha mãe ligou-me a dizer que tinha visto num jornal que estavam a recrutar para a Disney Cruise Line. Decidi dar uma vista de olhos para saber a que se referia mais em concreto e acabei de descobrir que talvez não fosse a pessoa ideal (uma vez que não tenho qualquer experiência em hotelaria), mas esta notícia acabou por me dar a ideia de experimentar outros ramos do universo Disney e acabei por ir parar ao site de recrutamento da Disneyland Paris. Na altura decidi enviar o meu currículo tal e qual como fazia para outras empresas e nunca mais me lembrei do assunto até que em Janeiro recebi um e-mail a dizer que tinha sido seleccionada para uma entrevista a ter lugar em Lisboa. Lembro-me de ter contado à minha família que tinha sido contactada e que ia à entrevista, mas que não tinha quaisquer esperanças de ser recrutada (até porque a entrevista era em francês e eu já não praticava a língua há imenso tempo!).

On the 20th February, I went to the interview. I confess I remember that day as one of those I shouldn't even got out of home: it rained a lot, my umbrella got broken as I left the subway and, desperate as I realised I didn't have the time to catch a bus, I got into a taxi to make it in time. When I arrived at the meeting place, there were already a lot of people for the interview and, a little bit late, the recruiters arrived to introduce us to the enterprise and the experience that is working at Disneyland Paris. We were interviewed in groups of three and I must tell you that it took a while until it arrived my turn (we got to watch a Disney movie meanwhile!). I was asked a little bit of everything, in three different languages and with long answers to test my speech. And that was it. We were told we would get an e-mail in about a week stating whether the answer was positive or negative.

No dia 20 de Fevereiro, lá fui à entrevista. Confesso que me lembro bem deste dia como sendo um daqueles em que mais me pareceu que não devia ter saído de casa: chovia torrencialmente, o meu guarda-chuva estragou-se quando saía do metro e, desesperada ao ver que não ia conseguir apanhar um autocarro a tempo, lá dei por mim a entrar num táxi para chegar a horas. Quando cheguei ao local marcado, já lá estavam bastante pessoas para serem entrevistadas e, com algum atraso, chegaram os recrutadores que nos introduziram um pouco a empresa e a experiência que é trabalhar na Disneyland Paris. Entrevistaram as pessoas três a três e, digo-vos já que demorou imenso tempo até que chegasse a minha vez (ainda nos puseram a ver um filme da Disney para passar o tempo!). Perguntaram-me um pouco de tudo, em três línguas diferentes e com respostas bem longas para testar o meu discurso. E foi isso. Disseram-nos que dentro de uma semana iríamos receber um e-mail a informar-nos se a resposta era positiva ou negativa.

About a week later (at the beginning of March), I got the expected e-mail, congratulating me for entering Disney's Talent Pool! To explain you a bit better, the Talent Pool is a sort of data base of people who may be hired in the future. This being said, I knew they would keep my contact and, in case there was an offer, they would send me a proposal with two months in advance. I was happy for finally having a positive response (although not definitive) and got ready for the idea of working at Disney maybe at the end of the year, deciding to keep looking for a job for Summer.

I was surprised when the next day I already had a proposal to start the week after! I must confess I thought a lot about this offer but, after realising that the bureaucracy made it truly impossible to move into another country in a more definitive way in only a week, I explain my reasons and refused it. To my happiness, they offered me another job for the end of May and I accepted it immediately!

As you may see, my recruitment process was rather quick and I was lucky to be offered a contract so soon, but remember it is only an example and it may vary! If you wish to apply for spectacle (characters), the process is different and includes auditions. In case you have more concrete doubts about the recruitment process, type of contracts or jobs at Disney, do not hesitate to ask me and I will reply!

Passado uma semana (em início de Março), chegou o tão ansiado e-mail, o qual me dava os parabéns por ter entrado para a Talent Pool da Disney! Para vos explicar melhor, a Talent Pool é uma espécie de base de dados de pessoas que poderão a vir ser contratadas no futuro. Basicamente, indicavam-me que iriam guardar o meu contacto e que, caso existisse uma oferta, me iriam enviar uma proposta com um pré-aviso de dois meses. Fiquei contente por finalmente ter uma resposta positiva (ainda que indefinida) e preparei-me para a ideia de trabalhar na Disney mais para o final do ano, decidida a continuar a procurar o emprego para os meses de Verão. 

Qual o meu espanto quando no dia seguinte já tinha uma proposta para começar dali a uma semana! Confesso que ponderei muito esta proposta mas, depois de me ter apercebido que com a burocracia que existe era verdadeiramente impossível eu emigrar de uma forma mais definitiva em apenas uma semana, justifiquei os meus motivos e recusei. Para minha felicidade, ofereceram-me outra proposta para final de Maio e aceitei logo de imediato! 

Como vêm, o meu processo de recrutamento foi relativamente rápido e tive bastante sorte por me ter sido oferecido logo um contrato, mas lembrem-se que é apenas um exemplo indicativo e que pode variar de pessoa para pessoa! Se quiserem candidatar-se à área de espectáculo (personagens), o processo é diferente e envolve audições. Caso tenham dúvidas mais concretas sobre o processo de recrutamento, tipos de contratos ou profissões na Disney, não hesitem em me perguntar que eu respondo!

 

 

I left Portugal on the 28th May, alone, with a bag that contained all my new life (as well as my dreams). The first weeks were hard, with all the setting to a new country and language, the formation and evaluations, the new job and all the difficulties that come with discovery and adventure! I got through some rough times and funny thing (from which I laugh now) but with time you start fitting in! The positive part is that Disneyland Paris has a lot of foreigners, people from all countries and origins, different races and ethnicities, religious beliefs, that speak different languages... you don't feel so out of place!

Deixei Portugal no dia 28 de Maio, sozinha, com uma mala em que cabia toda a minha nova vida (e também os meus sonhos). As primeiras semanas foram difíceis, com toda a ambientação a um novo país e língua, com as formações e avaliações, com o novo emprego e com todas as dificuldades inerentes à descoberta e aventura! Passei por alguns maus bocados e por cenas engraçadas (das quais agora me rio), mas com o tempo começamos a ambientar-nos! A parte positiva é que a Disneyland Paris conta com imensos estrangeiros, pessoas de países e origens diferentes, de diferentes raças e etnias, crenças religiosas, que falam línguas diferentes... acabamos por não nos sentir tão deslocados!
